Within the Atlantic Academy, which fosters the exchange of experiences and acquiring of new knowledge and skills, we opened the Education Centre FARMACIA. The Centre is responsible for providing opportunities for learning and developing the competences required in pharmacy for masters of pharmacy, pharmacy technicians and trainees in the Health Institution (HI) Farmacia.
The Education Centre’s programme is organised in line with latest trends in providing pharmacy care and offers a programme for advancing professional, personal and business competences according to the highest standards of this profession. The course catalogue consists of professional lectures in the field of pharmacotherapy, social pharmacy, dietotherapy, dermopharmacy, phytotherapy, physical therapy and other medical branches. Workshops are based on practical cases, exchange of experiences and evidence-based medicine.
In addition to professional subjects, we also organise regular IT courses, training in sales, communication and presentation skills, pharmacy-oriented finances and expert courses for harmonising the quality of service and establishing standard operating procedures as well as professional work documentation.
Our lectures are available to every employee and, since they are evaluated by the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists, they provide each master of pharmacy with regular renewal of his/her licence and continuous professional development.
In that way, a health professional’s career development for masters of pharmacy progresses from a trainee to an expert through 7 categories, and for pharmacy technicians from an associate, senior technician to an assistant. Professional competences are tested and developed in accordance with WHO/FIP/UNESCO recommendations through the General Level Framework programme which is becoming a global standard of quality in providing pharmacy care.
We give special attention to traineeship. Apart from expert modules, within the period of one year, the Education
Centre assigns every trainee a mentor, mother-pharmacy and a possibility of rotating the trainee in at least three work positions. Trainees are introduced to all business segments and after their final thesis and passing the state professional exam they are ready to independently work in a pharmacy.
The goal of the Education Centre is to improve the quality of service at all levels by providing continuous education and knowledge assessment of all health workers, to permanently collaborate with professional organisations, institutions and expert studies and to participate in scientific conferences and manifestations.
The Centre issues its own publications and publishes its results in professional magazines.
