By recycling paper, Atlantic saved more than 22 thousand trees in 2012

This week, we mark international Earth Day, where the greatest emphasis was placed on raising awareness on the importance of water and active participation in environmental protection.

This week, we mark international Earth Day, where the greatest emphasis was placed on raising awareness on the importance of water and active participation in environmental protection.
At Atlantic Grupa, Earth Day lasts longer than a day. We care for the environment daily and unconsciously, where we accept the challenge of using natural resources for development in a sustainable way and the obligation to protect nature and the environment for future generations.
If we take the separation of waste paper as an example, which is already regular practice at Atlantic, it is easy to evaluate the company’s commitment to the path towards a better environment. So thanks to recycling, Atlantic saved a forest of 22,400 trees in 2012, alongside significant savings of electrical energy and fuel.

It is well known that recycling waste paper represents a significantly smaller burden on the environment than the production of paper from trees.

What exactly has been done in the company in regards to that?

A total of 1318 tons of waste paper was collected to be recycled. If we take into account the globally-known formula:
1 ton of recycled paper:
Saves 17 trees
Saves 26 m³  of water
320 l of oil
4,000 kWh of electrical energy
and 2.3 m³ of space at the landfill…

… the total contribution of everyone at Atlantic Grupa for a better environment would be as follows:

By recycling the waste paper collected in 2012 in Atlantic Grupa:

- a forest of 22,400 trees and 14 Olympic swimming pools of water were saved
- electrical energy was saved equal to the amount used by 1300 families in two bedroom apartments in one year
- more than 420,000 litres of oil were saved
- and the burden for landfills was decreased by 3,000 m3
