ZAGREB, 19 April 2010 – Atlantic Grupa Plc. Zagreb submitted today a non binding offer for takeover of the Slovenian company Droga Kolinska Plc. Ljubljana, majority owned by Istrabenz Plc. Kopar.
The offer was delivered to an international investment bank BNP Paribas, which was named the chief advisor for the sales of Droga Kolinska. During the next few weeks BNP Paribas will organize due diligence for the candidates who make it in the second round of the process.
This is a potential acquisition that would make Atlantic Grupa one of the leading food companies in the SEE region with a revenue of over € 650 million and 4,300 employees. Droga Kolinska is the owner of several strong regional brands such as Argeta, Barcaffe/Grand Kafa, Cocta, Donat Mg and Soko Štark.
Atlantic Grupa has a strong track record in acquisitions, having successfully completed as much as 15 of them during the last decade. Through these strategic and well thought through acquisitions Atlantic has secured the future of its business, based on synergies, successful merging of different corporate cultures, innovation, cost optimization as well as continuous investment in growth and development of the acquired companies' assortment, distribution channels, profitability and business in general. Since 2001 Atlantic Grupa grew by double digit numbers, combining organic growth and growth from acquisitions. Given the sound business strategy, Atlantic realized revenue growth of 10.1 % along with an EBIT growth of 18.9 % even in the crises struck 2009.
