social responsibility

Socially responsible business conduct in all its segments is the strategic commitment of Atlantic Grupa that includes responsibility to its employees, business partners, financial community and environment as well as responsibility to the public sector and wider community. Atlantic continuously tries to achieve high standards of social responsibility and will continue to actively take part in the community and non-governmental organisations, encourage socially beneficial work, support activities of sport and cultural associations, participate in the activities of professional scientific conferences and global initiatives as well as raise awareness on the importance of preserving the environment.

employees

 Atlantic Grupa is a multinational company with companies and representative offices in ten countries, so special attention is given to building a unique corporate culture which honours diversity and encourages cooperation and synergies among different segments of production, innovation, marketing and sales. Each of the acquired companies that become a part of Atlantic contributes to the unique identity of the company in its own specific way.
Particular attention is given to the development of the internal process management system and the career development system for all employees within the strategic project entitled Atlantic Academy. The Academy carries out continuous education of employees and the career development system is considered an important pillar in the company’s responsibility to employees. Career management implies close collaboration between managers and employees and the function of Human Resources serves the purpose of developing activities focused on their integration. The required number of quality employees is secured, educational cycles at all management levels are planned and systematically implemented, educational needs are reviewed, organisational climate and satisfaction level are monitored, internal promotions and rotations are suggested, activities of quality performance assessment and career development are carried out and various employee-motivation models are applied.

investors and shareholders

 With the recent initial public offer of Atlantic Grupa’s shares (end of 2007) and its listing in the quotation of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, Atlantic Grupa once again confirmed its commitment to transparent business conduct and communication with all interested parties. Since Atlantic’s bonds were already listed in the Stock Exchange’s official market, which is the most demanding in regard of criteria, the quotation of shares does not represent any special additional challenge for the company in regard of standards and transparency, but certainly represents additional responsibility toward the new shareholders of Atlantic Grupa. Transparent communication with all Atlantic Grupa’s stakeholders has been practiced since the very beginning of business operations and in the last eighteen years there were constant efforts to systematically improve that process. For instance, the Atlantic Grupa’s prospectus for the initial public offer of shares has been evaluated as one of the most comprehensive and detailed prospectuses until now. Since this was the largest public offer of a private company in Croatia within the last year, public interest was exceptional and it is the result of great efforts to build and implement the efficient social responsibility system in all segments of Atlantic’s business operations.

public sector and social community

 Except in the field of human resources, Atlantic Grupa also made steps forward in the sense of improving corporate management and was among the first to publish the Code of Corporate Governance which establishes the principal guidelines of ethical conduct and management of business subjects within the Croatian economy. In that way, Atlantic’s business strategy, business policy, key internal acts and business practice strive to contribute to transparent and efficient business operation and relationship with all relevant subjects. In addition, members of the Management Board of Atlantic Grupa actively participate in the functioning of legislative and professional bodies with the purpose of improving the Croatian economy. Atlantic is involved in the work of the parliamentary committee for monitoring the accession negotiations of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union and the Economic and Social Council. Atlantic is also a member of the Croatian Employers’ Association and a participant in the working groups for preparation of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union for Chapter 6 – Company Law and Chapter 16 – Taxation.

environment

 Having in mind the totality of elements which constitute socially responsible business conduct, Atlantic Grupa is also proud of its high standards implemented in the segment of environmental responsibility. In that way the companies within Atlantic Grupa are among the first ten business entities in the Republic of Croatia which drafted Waste Management Plans. Notwithstanding the low level of environmental risk, considerable funds were invested in all divisions operating within Atlantic Grupa. Environmental responsibility and quality control which are practiced resulted in the fact that Atlantic is the holder of all relevant certificates    (GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and IFS). Additionally, activities in production units are in conformity with the environmental management policy. Exceptional concern is given to the selection of packaging materials so that they may be recycled and adequately disposed, environmentally friendly raw materials are used, efforts are put into minimising waste and its adequate sorting and disposal, use of natural resources is decreased and awareness of all employees and partners concerning their effect on the environment is constantly raised. The environmental protection factors are fully taken into account in every new development project and expansion of production programmes.
